Admissions

We are a community based Church of England primary school offering education to children aged between four and eleven years of age.
Our school is committed to inclusion and to serving the needs of the children in the local community.

Destination schools include Bishop Wordsworth's School, South Wilts Grammar School, Danebury School, The Romsey School, Wyvern St Edmunds, St Josephs Catholic School, as well as Salisbury Cathedral School and Chafyn Grove School.

Choosing a school for your child is an important step in their development which we know is essential to get right. We would love to welcome you for a tour of our school. 

 

Every year we can admit up to 15 children to our Reception Class.

Please join us from 𝟵.𝟯𝟬 - 𝟭𝟭.𝟬𝟬𝗮𝗺 to meet our Executive Headteacher, Mrs Macey and enjoy a tour of our school and its incredible grounds!

Your child will have the opportunity to take part in some activities with West Tytherley pupils in our Reflection Garden before we finish the morning in our recently re-decorated Dinner Hall, where you will have the chance to view the school dinner menus and taste our talented cook’s delicious treats!

Catchment

Our school sits on the Hampshire - Wiltshire county border, and as such we are in a unique position to be able to offer children from the surrounding areas and villages. Our catchment can include West Tytherley, Winterslow, Houghton, East Dean, West Dean, Awbridge, Lockerley, Dunbridge, Kimbridge, Timsbury, Sherfield English, Whiteparish, Grimstead, Farley, Firsdown, Bossington and Mottisfont.

How to apply

If you live in Hampshire

If you live in Hampshire, you can apply from 1st November 2024 online at www.hants.gov.uk/admissions.
The application deadline is Wednesday 15th January 2025.
For Hampshire admissions, please click here.

If you live in Wiltshire

If you live in Wiltshire, you will have to apply through the Wiltshire County Council admissions process. Please click here.
Applications open on 1st November 2025.
The application deadline is 14th January 2026.

Out of County First Applications - Wiltshire County Council
If you are a Wiltshire resident and you would like to apply for an out of county first school, please 
Apply online.  Alternatively, you can contact our customer service team to request a paper application form .  Please note if you complete a paper application form this must be posted back to Wiltshire Council and not emailed.
The deadline for submitting applications is the 15 January 2025. 

To apply via Reception Year entry applications are made through the Hampshire County Council admissions and allocation process.

If you live outside the area

If you live in another area, or will be moving to the area for the new school year and would like to apply for a place at West Tytherley, you would need to speak with your Local Authority Admissions Team and follow their process.

However, In Year Entry applications are made direct to the school, and the school arranges all of the paperwork relating to the change of school.
For both application types, we warmly welcome you to visit the school, to see us in action and experience our learning environment. Our Head, Mrs Lucy Macey, would be pleased to show you around.

In Year Applications

If your child attends another primary school and would like to come to West Tytherley Primary immediately, you can apply to join our school in two ways:

  1. You can apply to us directly. We will send you, upon request, an application form via in-person collection, email or post. We ask you to return it directly to us, and we can confirm your place almost immediately. The start date can be as early as the next working day.

  2. Alternatively you can also contact your Local Authority Admissions Team directly and use this link to apply for an 'In Year Admission’.

In Year Applications - from Wiltshire and elsewhere

If your child attends a primary school outside Hampshire (in Wiltshire, a surrounding county, or you are moving to the area) you would need to contact the Local Authority Admissions Team in the county your child currently attends. For example, if you live in Wiltshire and wish to take up a place at West Tytherley (a Hampshire County Council controlled school), you would need to speak with the Wiltshire County Council Admissions Team and follow their process.
